BERTL Selects eCopy as Best Enterprise Network Scanning Solution
Leading Digital Imaging Market Authority Bestows Influential  "Best Award" on eCopy ShareScan OP for Second Consecutive Year

Nashua, N.H., June 2, 2005 — BERTL Inc., the world's leading digital imaging market research company, today awarded its prestigious "Best Enterprise Network Scanning Solution" Award for 2005 to eCopy Inc. for its ShareScan OP v3.0 software and its Open Platform Architecture.

"ShareScan OP is an easy to use, yet highly customizable application that enables organizations to set a standard for document imaging and distribution software across MFP and scanner platforms," said David Sweetnam, vice president of research at BERTL. "We have awarded the 2005 BERTL's Best Award to eCopy because of its demonstrated excellence in offering multiplatform solutions that integrate paper-based information into existing business processes and applications."

This year's BERTL's Best Award recognizes ShareScan OP v3.0 software, which eCopy introduced in April 2005, for making it easy for MFP users to easily add paper-based information to their organization's electronic document workflows. ShareScan OP transforms digital copiers and scanners into information hubs by incorporating hardcopy documents directly into the workflow of critical business processes, such as reporting, administration, document management, financials, human resources, and customer management. Frequently, eCopy customers use ShareScan OP to help insure compliance with government regulations by incorporating paper-based information into their electronic workflows. eCopy solutions have been deployed on more than 20,000 MFP devices prior to the introduction of its Open Platform Architecture.

ShareScan OP supports Canon, HP, Océ, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba digital copiers, and Canon and Fujitsu scanners. The software is currently integrated with more than 37 enterprise applications, including EMC Documentum Enterprise Content Management Platform, Captaris RightFax, and Microsoft Outlook.

"BERTL is recognized around the world for providing independent, expert product evaluations of digital imaging devices and software," said Edward Schmid, eCopy president and CEO. "Winning BERTL's Best for two years in row provides strong validation for eCopy's strategy to enable a fundamental change in how document scanning capabilities are delivered to business applications. We believe our technology makes it easy for any office worker to add paper-based information to enterprise software applications."

ShareScan OP software operates on either a Canon Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform (MEAP)-enabled digital copier or an eCopy ScanStation OP attached to a digital copier or scanner. eCopy plans to support additional embedded platforms as digital copier manufacturers make these platforms available.

eCopy's Open Platform Architecture makes it possible for independent software vendors to access eCopy's robust document scanning services on virtually any digital copier or scanner by developing one software Connector for their application for all digital copier and scanner platforms. It eliminates the need for independent software vendors (ISVs) to build individual software Connectors for each MFP platform.

The eCopy ShareScan OP SDK enables software developers to easily provide native integration to their software applications. Native integration enables office workers to work with enterprise applications at the copier in the same way they would at their desktop PC, which increases user adoption and reduces the need for training.
